Albaron Partners Announces New Fertility Clinic in Charlotte, Creating a National Reproductive Endocrinology Platform

New York, NY, and Charlotte, NC, October 4, 2020 – Albaron Partners, LP (“Albaron”), a U.S. private equity firm focused on acquiring majority stakes of companies in the specialty healthcare services sector, today announced that it has partnered with a Charlotte-based reproductive endocrinologist to offer advanced fertility treatments under the name of Reproductive Specialists of the Carolinas. The new clinic will be led by Dr. Matrika Johnson, a dual board-certified OB/GYN and reproductive endocrinologist recently recognized as one of Charlotte’s “Top Doctors” by Charlotte Magazine. The investment in Reproductive Specialists of the Carolinas anchors Innovation Fertility, a management services organization specializing in reproductive endocrinology in the Charlotte market. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Reproductive endocrinology is among the fastest-growing medical specialties. Demand for advanced fertility care will continue to rise as couples are deciding to have children later in life and the prevalence of male infertility, driven by environmental and lifestyle factors, increases. Further trends favoring industry demand are a growing percentage of same-sex couples desiring children and an increasing number of employers offering benefits for IVF and genetic testing services.
